Weekly Update

Butch belts them at EFYC.
I managed to catch the end of EFYC race on Saturday. Butch had a good margin over Vicious, young Renners and older Renners.

Bullet belts them at MBSC.

Glamour crew of past champions and self confessed greats Ash Gabrielson, Mark Lewis and Grinder blitzed the dozen Sharpies that hit the water yesterday. In a gpleasant 12 to 15 knot sou wester the in form crew of quickly made up for being OCS winning by a minute from Impact that also restarted, unnecessarily as it turned out.

With only a minute or so separating the fleet at Club bouy the reach to Addison set up many of the positions. Bullit took a commanding minute lead, Greg Creeper had a rate poor reach an later retire with a broken third stay. Some have suggested he pulled a heart muscle and retired to the bar early!!!! By Deepwater the places were very much set and not a lot changed although the racing was close. Paul Schnieder had “Almost a Skiff” going well, Keysie was closer behind, Wise Magic snapping at there heals and Matt Jahn on Origami Underwear trying to sail the coffin like a 49er.

In the end Bullet with a comfortable win, second Impact and third to Almost a Skiff.

Next Sunday is the Opening of PFYS, which is the first heat of the Travellers series.

Sharpie Update

Hi All,
The weekend tossed up some interesting sailing conditions. East Freo boys had every season in one day, Pete Ivanac filled in with Swany, well done as he left my place Friday night barely able to talk let alone walk!@#$%^&*

Mounts Bay had SSE moving 30 degrees or more and from 5 to 15 knots. This made for some big wins and losses along with a few spectacular swims. Dave Mann sailing Vanquish smashed the fleet in race one, the Lizard improved every race proving the most consistent boat taking out the 3 race series with Greg Creeper second, a broken trap wire resulting in a Stone Motherless Last in race 3 cost Dave Mann a chance at piping the Lizard for top spot.

Another reminder to pay your association fees and enter the Nationals. This
will assist with our pre regatta costs. So far the response has been extremely disappointing.

Saturday November 9 is the Bunbury Yacht Club Opening. We are trying to organise a few to head down as Warren Drew wdrew@gphe.com.au has purchased Suburban Boys and is making efforts to get the fleet up and running again.

There are a couple of units being held at UWA if anyone needs some accommodation during the nationals. Contact myself if you are interested approx $160 a night.

Cheers,
Craig Mann
